    Speed/Performance on a site with 10K+ pages

    Hi all

We have been asked by a client about the speed / performance of Umbraco sites with 10,000+ pages. So...

...does anyone have any example sites of this sort of size?

...are there any recommendation in terms of architecture for sites of this size (caching considerations etc)?

Thanks - any advice greatly appreciated!

    Stuart

    Hi there

If I remember correctly Umbraco 4.x should be able to handle about 250k nodes before speed and performance is an issue. But I guess it also depends on the server setup of course.

A site with 10.000 pages should not be a problem.

You can read a bit more about it here: http://forum.umbraco.org/yaf_postst1182_Anyone-with-experience-with-many-related-sites-on-an-Umbraco-instance.aspx

And some good tips on server setup here: http://our.umbraco.org/forum/getting-started/installing-umbraco/4148-Squeezing-more-sites-onto-a-dedicated-server?p=0

    I hope this helps.

    /Jan

    Hey,

I wouldn't worry too much about 10,000 nodes.

However, you if your client needs convincing, then you might want to watch this video on how Microsoft runs TechNet with 190,000 nodes on Umbraco (with a few tweaks)

    Enjoy
