Best way to migrate & change data

    Hi,

I have been tasked with migrating data from an Umbraco 6 solution to an Umbraco 7 solution.
There have been some changes to the content and naming of the DocTypes and so, some tweaking is needed for the migration to be possible.

I've looked shortly at Courier 2, and it doesn't seem like it really have what I need to make the nessecary changes to the data.

Anoyone got a suggestion as how accomplish this?

    Thanks in advanced :)

Hi Daniel, and welcome to our.

Perhaps you should have a look at the CMS Import package https://our.umbraco.org/projects/developer-tools/cmsimport from Richard Soeteman. You can find more infomation about the package on his company website here: http://soetemansoftware.nl/cmsimport

    Hope this helps,

    /Dennis

Hi Daniel and welcome to our :)

Apart from CMSImport as Dennis mentions above you can also have a look at uMigrate https://our.umbraco.org/projects/collaboration/umigrate and perhaps uMirror as well https://our.umbraco.org/projects/backoffice-extensions/umirror

Don't know if uMport might be helpful too https://our.umbraco.org/projects/developer-tools/umport

Thank you both for the suggestions, sadly from what I could see the suggested tools couldn't really do what I wanted. Close but still lacking in some areas :/

I ended up runnning a seperate projected which connected to souce database, and made some API's avaliable to the target project so that I could get the "old" raw data and manipulate it as needed.

    Hi Daniel

Ok - Sounds interesting. Something you fancy sharing at some point? Might be a nice idea for the newly launched skrift.io magazine http://skrift.io/write/ - Think that would be very nice if you feel like it and have the time of course.

I'm confident that you will receive a lot of community love - Just a thought :)

    /Jan
