Lefteris Multiple Media Picker - not compatible with Umbraco v4(?)
I just tried installing and using Lefteris Multiple Media Picker (0.6) on an Umbraco v4 site. Installing the files and creating the datatype works fine. But when I try to use it in one of my doctypes I can't select media files (get some sort of javascript error).
"Well, why don't you use Ultimate Picker which is built into v4?" someone might say. The answer is that I do use it now but it has a big disadvantage: I can't sort the nodes that I select. In Lefteris Multiple Media Picker I can sort the nodes that I have selected and the sort order is individual for each page. Using Ultimate Picker I automatically get the sort order of the folder from which the files are selected.
Is there a workaround for this?
If not, will Ultimate Picker be modified (sometime soon) to enable sorting?
You can use Lefteris' excellent multiple-content and multiple-media pickers in umbraco 4.0 even though they are built for umbraco v3 as long as...
All the 'lef' controls must be on the first tab in your document type. If they are placed on any tab other than the first tab they will display but not function properly, giving a javascript error.
Not an ideal solution, but until Lefteris updates the controls this is a workaround.
Brilliant thanks for the info Doug - was just stressing about the same thing, and no more...
Lefteris where are you? Please tweak your superb controls for v4! ;)
Cheers
Josh
I'm returning to this thread since it's become a problem. I really like Lefteris node/mediapickers and that's why I have used them on older sites. But now it's impossible to update these sites to version 4.
Can I somehow "hot-swap" Lefteris Multiple Media Picker for another data type before upgrading? My experience is that data gets lost when you switch from one data type to another? What are my options?

Doug,
I did not know that! Very useful its a pity no one can seem to get in contact with him, his node/media pickers are excellent.

Try this -> http://treemultipicker.codeplex.com/
it's been an absolute lifesaver for me, and you can even choose between "lefteris" and "ultimate picker" output.
ddrayne: that's awesome! Thanks a million! I will try this on my development server as soon as I get back (on vacation at the moment).
is working on a reply...
