Are you allowed to add a custom section to umbraco for commercial use?
I would possible like to create some commercial packages for umbraco. But some of the ideas I have I would not know where to put.
As an example let's look at some newsletter functionality that would have a uniqa workflow. This is all done from the backend where you can create some newsletter, view statistics setup some rules etc. Now I need a treeview to represent all this but I do not feel that this should be the Content treeview.
And let's say I have 5 of these "backend/administration" type packages, then I would like to group these in one section. Am I allowed to do this and still charge money for it?
If you have diifferent ideas please feel free to post them as well :)
Kind Regards
Jacob
* other packages could be: Some specialised and complex administration of image galleries, Integration with external products that allow you to configure them in the umbraco backend.
Creating a new section in the Umbraco UI is just an extension to the software, and you would not need a commercial license for that. As far as I know, it would be fine to sell that sort of package, and I believe it is encouraged by the core team as well.
This is at least the way I understand the rules, but I will try and get confirmation on that.

Do you know about the Umbraco Store?
@Mortenbock
Okay sounds really nice. If someone can confirm Mortens view on things then that would be great.
@Ruben
No I have not seen that before but I will give it a look. Thanks.

Hi Jacob,
Morten's view has been confirmed twitter-wise.
Extract from the tweet:
'yup, thats correct. Perfect answer :)'

@Dirk
Thank you. This sounds really great :)
Regarding the approach that I wish to pursue. Am I on the right track here or is there a better way?
