I have been looking for an example of implementing a custom membership provider in Umbraco v.4, but all I have found are questions from people who have done it. No references to an actual example or howto book.
I realize that v.4 hasn't been out long, but somebody must have made a reference to it somewhere since you guys have been able to play with it.
I have tried implementing custom membership providers before in ASP.NET websites, so I know how they work, but I am just not sure how to implement them in Umbraco.
Another question is if the implementation of a cumstom membership provider completely replaces the members section in Umraco or if it simply changes it.
To answer the second part of your question, I think that the members section will use the membership provider that you specify, so you will have the possibility of managing your members.
As for examples of implementation, I have not seen any examples yet.
