I have just started work on a project using Umbraco 5 as part of the development a forum is required for the site, I can see from looking around that currently all of the developed packages for forums only work with Umbraco up to version 4.7.1.1.
Would anyone be able to suggest a course of action, I'm guessing that a package would probably need to be developed that is version 5 compatible?
Other than are there any other courses of action that would allow us to avoid having to develop the package?
Well Umbraco 5 can be extended using hive. Here is a demo for wordpress: http://www.screenr.com/g70s. You could write a hive provider for a forum for example. Perhaps you can combine Umbraco with this one: http://mvcforum.org/.
