issue uploading package terabyte umbraco redirect

For  some reason I am generating an error when I try and load the permanent redirect packaghe, I have successfuilly installed the package on my dev site.

However regardless of using a local package or trying to do it via the repository I get an error

Error - file not found. Could find file named 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\xxx\App_Data\'

when I try and install a downloaded package I get:

    Could not upload file
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at umbraco.presentation.developer.packages.Installer.uploadFile(Object sender, EventArgs e)

any thoughts and help would be appreciated.

    regards

    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,

I installed this package earlier in the week and it worked fine.  Could it be the curse of the permissions?

It could well be, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a general problem that had cropped up..

    cheers

Actually, what would have helped here would have been the compatability report.  I'm pretty religious about updating those whenever I install a package.  Sometimes though, it seems some of the packages just won't allow you to do it.  I'm definitely logged in to our.umbraco.org when the project is downloaded (tried download a few times) but the compatibility pop-up still seems to think I've not downloaded the package.  Most of the time it works, but for several packages it just doesn't seem to recognise the download; I've yet to spot the pattern!  It'd be interesting though, would you try to do this and see if it works for you (obviously once you've got the package working!)?

I've made sure that IUS and server/IIS_IUSR have permissions do I need another permission to install packages?
