I've been trying to get a custom section loaded in 6.1.6 but it just will not work. Has anyone gotten one to work in 6.1.6 and if so is there any tricks or a good tutorial that you followed to get it to work? I've gotten both a section and a tree to generate in the config xmls but can't get it to show up in the admin side. I've reset my app pool and I've went to users to see if I have to grant access but the new section doesn't show up at all.
*sigh - So what the problem ended up being is that the developer who installed the system made me an admin but not a true admin with all the rights so I could never see it as an option to give access. I ended installing a completely fresh instance of umbraco to see if that was an issue and sure enough. Thanks for the reply band I will give you credit for the answer because that ultimately was the reason.

Did you give your user access to the new section ?
