    can't install starter kit

    hi, i'm installing umbraco with web matrix and web gallery,

    i choose to install with SQL CE, but everytime i get request timed out when i install a starter kit,

    what am i doing wrong ?

    Hi Eran

    I think that there might be a bug with installing starter kits with SQL CE. If I remember correctly other people have had this problem as well.

    SO I don't think you do anything wrong. Eventually you could try to have a look at the issue tracker on codeplex to see if this has been reported as a bug. If it has please vote it up :-)

    Hi All, same problem here two years later, and - if it wasn't enough - I get it with both SQL Server CE and non-CE. Installation is of the latest Umbraco using WebMatrix on a clean Windows 7 Pro VM running under Parallels 8. Installing not only fails, but makes WebMatrix crash, too. The link to the 30196 ticket is broken.

    Hi Gianfranco and welcome to our :)

    Yes unfortunately this part of Umbraco has not gotten much love during the past years - now issues are reported on http://issues.umbraco.org/issues/U4 and if you would like to make the core team aware of these issues then I recommend you post an issue here and they have a chance of having a look at it and deciding what to do about it.
