Can Umbraco only run in the root folder of a website?

I noticed some paths to images on a clean install are pointing to the root of the website, but I'm running Umbraco from a subfolder. Is this a limitation I should be aware of, or just a small oversight for these particular images?

    I'm talking about:

    • /umbraco/dashboard/images/logo32x32.png
    • /umbraco/dashboard/images/tv.png
    • /umbraco/dashboard/images/starterkit32x32.png
All these are on the dashboard.

No. The URL's are correct, if you set a hostname for your site then you can install it anywhere, have a look at this screencast about installing umbraco to see how to do that exactly.
