Install error on all umbraco versions: NullReferenceException
Hi,
in this morning I would install a new clean umbraco 6.1.6 instance, but after download the zip file from Contribute section on our.umbraco and will start this with webmatrix I get the following NullReferenceException:
I have tested now with another versions (6.1.2, 6.2.0, 6.2.1, 7.1.0) but every time I get the same exception. After this I opened Visual Studio 2012 Professional and install 6.1.6 with nuGet. But If I run the project I get the same exception. I have created many new projects and install a lot of other versions with nuGet. But everytime with every version I have no luck. I never had problems to install umbraco or to start. I have now repair Visual Studio 2012, but without luck.
Has anyone an idea to solve this? On the way, I use Windows 8.1 Pro.
I have not install software since last install of Umbraco. But there are a lot of Windows Upgrades in the last two weeks. Maybe it depends so together. Any upgrades are very important, so I would like this not uninstall after opportunity once. I uninstall Visual Studio now and install it again. Perhaps this will solve the problem.
Yeah, could perhaps be related to some updates - Too bad that my german skills are not what they used to be. I think that the error explanation in english could perhaps provide at better clue :)
I had uninstall and install Visual Studio again and I restarted the .net framework. But nothing changes. The error explanation in english means: Object reference not set to an object instance.
A few days ago I have restructure my project folders on my machine. The path of my new general project root folder contains the # char. And if the path contains the # char, then is throw the NullReferenceException.

Hi Sören
Is this a new machine or have you installed Umbraco successfully on it before? If it's a new machine make sure that all dependencies are present.

Hi Jan,
no, it's not an new machine. I have installed Umbraco successfully on it over 30 times before in the last month.
Sören
Hi Sören
Ok - Has there been any upgrades of the system since the last install of Umbraco? Or installation of some software like AVG antivirus?

Looking forward to hearing how you progress.

Hi Jan,
I have solved it :-) It's unbelievable...
A few days ago I have restructure my project folders on my machine. The path of my new general project root folder contains the # char. And if the path contains the # char, then is throw the NullReferenceException.
Sören
Hi Sören
Happy to hear you managed to figure out what was wrong and thank you for sharing! :)
Cheers, Jan
