    Asking to upgrade?

    My umbraco install is asking me to upgrade to 4.0.4.1, but when I follow the link, it takes me to the download for Umbraco 4.0.4.2.

    Do I need to upgrade sequencially, or can I just upgrade direct to 4.0.4.2?

    Also do I actually need to upgrade at all, or can I leave this until a major upgrade is made?

    Hi Tye, yes you can skip 4.0.4.1 and upgrade straight to 4.0.4.2 ... there are no database schema changes for that version.

    The changes are detailed on the CodePlex page: http://umbraco.codeplex.com/releases/view/37337 - a handful of bugs were fixed, but depending on your usage whether you'd notice them.

    Cheers, Lee.

    Hi Tye,

    As Lee says really, but it's not essential to upgrade if you are happy with the version you have and none of the changes affect your setup (Though 4.0.x to 4.0.4.2 should be a doddle).

    If you'd rather not receive the notifications, you can disable them in the web.config, be setting the umbracoVersionCheckPeriod appsetting to 0:

    <add key="umbracoVersionCheckPeriod" value="0" />

    Matt
