I have just installed Umbraco 4.5, and Runway, after comming home from a great Codegarden, to check out the new XML schema. The 4.5 installed just fine, and almost everything works perfectly so far. But I have a weird problem with some of the pages.
I've installed the FAQ-module as well. My problem is though, that on the frontpage/homepage and on the "FAQ"-node, I'm getting a server error saying:
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.
Requested URL: /default.aspx
The Requested URL-information on the faq-page says: /faq.aspx/aspx which also is kind of weird, because of the URL just being /faq.aspx
All of the other pages in Runway and the FAQ-module works just like they are suposed to. I have tried republishing the entire site, republish just the single pages that doesn't work, restarted the IIS, and looked for errors in the templates. But i can't seem to find the error.
I'm just trying the new version on my local machine.
Some version info: Microsoft .NET Framework version:4.0.30319; ASP.NET version:4.0.30319.1
I'm using an integrated app pool with v. 4.0 .NET Framework.
It's not the most important problem in the world to solve, as I just want to check out some of the new features, and especially the new XML Schema. But anyway, it could be nice to hear if I have done something wrong or anyone else have had this error.
I just found out that if I rename the Faq-node to FaqPage i.e., the page loads just fine on faqpage.aspx. Don't know if this information can help anyone solve the above weird issue?
I have just installed a fresh Umbraco 4.5 on my local computer, and I'm getting the same error as above:
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one
of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or
is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make
sure that it is spelled correctly.
Requested URL: /default.aspx
Usually there should be the "welcome"-screen saying something about that some work still have to be done before a page can be showed.
If I'm going to http://newsite.localhost/default.aspx the "Welcome"-screen is shown just like it should. Do I have to change anything in the web.config or IIS to get this to work.
I can't seem to find the problem to this error, so hopefully some of you guys have a good idea.
Quick question - have you used umbraco previously on this machine? Did you do a clean install or over an existing installation? The reason I ask isyou may be re-using a web.config file which may point to an existing database, which is why you wouldn't se the installation screens. Just a thought, will let you know if I think of anytthing else
Yes, I have used Umbraco on the same machine before. But that was version 4.0.3 though. But those installations where running just like a charm. And the installation I talked about in my previous post is a totally clean one. It's not an update of an existing installation or anything.
But it's very weird that the frontpage works very well, if I include the /default.aspx in my URL. And all of the childnodes works like they are supposed too as well. It's only when I just navigate to / the problem occours.
