Creating a circular reference between templates causes ASP.NET error and removes all templates

    Hi all,

As I was re-sorting templates around I received the yellow screen of death.  I knew that I was creating a circular reference but I thought I would be able to go into one of the templates and remove the reference.  However, after I saved the template that caused the error all of my templates were gone from the back-end console.

I wasn't even able to create a new template.  So, since this was a fresh install and I had nothing to lose I tried to remove the offending records from the database.  Wound up having to re-install.  No big deal, but it was an intersting exercise in figuring out how umbraco stores this stuff.

Anyone, I feel like there should be some type of check in the back-end to avoid this error and give the admin a chance to rectify this issue.  But having all the templates disappear is not helpful.  What if I had a fully working site and lost all these templates?  Is restoring a backup the only way?

Has anyone else experienced this?  How do you fix the problem without resorting to a backup?

    Thanks!
