i think it is best if a fixed or max width is added to <td class="body">
for example in http://our.umbraco.org/forum/developers/xslt/2570-Problem-with-XSLT-changing-output?p=0#comment8029 there are huge horizontal scrollbars :)
It only seems to be present in IE, just in case anyone is wondering. Checked in IE8 so you can bet its the same in 7.
