I think it would be incredibly helpful to have the ability to respond to indiviudal posts to maintain context rather than just replying to a thread. Each post could indicate which post in the thread it was in response to with an anchor link back to the originating post.
Just wanted to bump this up for consideration. I think it is very easy to lose the thread of conversation without the ability to quote replies. This is even more obviously a problem when replying to a post on e.g. page 1 of a thread that is already 3 pages long.

A built in quote option would also help this along.
