    The gray block on the left side of small posts is realy too big, it's a waste of space imo. (Making a small post as proof :D)

    What's with the voting down? At least give an argument. Either you agree or you don't; voting down like that won't help anyone.

    I find it a waste of space that all posts are at least that big, it makes bigger posts harder to read. Plus as a result you have less posts for each topic page.

    You could add a user stylesheet (firefox) for the site, with this in it

    #forum table.commentsList td.author div.memberBadge  {
       height: auto;
     min-height: 100px;
    }

    actually just tested that!  need to add !important after the min-height
