I have created a document type. I have created it with default template but I didn't need it.
Now, I try to delete it but it get deleted successfully and saved however when returns to the document type, the template is still there.
How can I get rid of the default template?

Have you created any node or page using above document type. Try by deleting template first related to this document type and then document type.
I think there are other who also working on same document type, that's why it is regenerating.
