How to tell if a site was built with Umbraco?

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this...

Is there a signature piece of code that Umbraco leaves that you could identify by looking at the source of a site. I'm trying to convince a client to use Umbraco and I believe one of our competitors is using it, I'd like to be able to offer some proof in my argument to use this CMS.

No, Umbraco does not add some piece of HTML which you can find in the source. It's all to the developer what's in the source of a website.

Basically you can't tell by visiting a website (and looking at the sourcecode) if it is running on umbraco or not.

Or try to add "?umbDebugShowTrace=true" to any of the URL's to see if you get the trace at the bottom. If so, then they've not secured the site much ;-)

And how do we secure our sites?

Thank you for all your replies! I had accidentally turned off email notifications so I didn't notice anyone responded until just now.
