Hi James and welcome to our.

It depends on which version you use:-). When you are logging into the backend of Umbraco, if its an Umbraco 4 or a version 6. then in the top right corner you will se an about button when you click it you will get the exactly version.

If you are using a version 7.x.x you login screen would look like this:

When you are logged in click at the avatar icon and you will see the version

    .

Depending on the Umbraco version you are using, there are various blog packages. I will link to the blog package options.

    Articulate: http://our.umbraco.org/projects/starter-kits/articulate

    SmartBlog: http://our.umbraco.org/projects/starter-kits/smart-blog

    uBlogsy: http://our.umbraco.org/projects/starter-kits/ublogsy

And here are some documentation on how to install a package in Umbraco http://our.umbraco.org/wiki/how-tos/packages-and-projects/how-to-install-a-package

Since you are new to the Umbraco CMS, I think you should take a look at these videos. http://umbraco.tv/videos/umbraco-v7/content-editor/ and http://umbraco.tv/videos/umbraco-v7/implementor/ The videos are showing the basic concepts of Umbraco. Some of these videos are free to watch, some requires that you subscribe to the Umbraco TV.

And here are some written starter documentation. http://our.umbraco.org/documentation/Using-Umbraco/Creating-Basic-Site/

Hope this helps, if you have more questions assign to this topic, keep asking them in here. If you have other questions just create a new topic in the forum.

    Hi James,

Since you are using Umbraco version 4.7.1 you don“t have many choises as I see it, For a blog you should give uBlogsy a try, If you chosee to use uBlogsy, go to http://our.umbraco.org/projects/starter-kits/ublogsy and download the version that is matching your Umbraco setup.

As I can see you should use uBlogsy 2.1.1.2 - Webforms only, Umbraco 4.7+, and you will find the zip file down on the page. or here

Hope this helps, and make sense.

    /Dennis
