    Contour functionality/licensing with single Umbraco installation but multiple hostname domains

    Hi,

    I've set up a client site which has a single Umbraco installation on a single server: http://www.mysite.co.uk.  However, there are several language versions of the site which each have their own domain set via a host name in Umbraco, e.g. http://www.mysite.de, http://www.mysite.fr etc.

    Question is, does one Umbraco Contour license cover the different hostnames or would this require 'additional domain' licenses for each language version of the site?

    Hiya, 

    As far as I know, it's licensed to the top level domaoin, e.g. mysite.co.uk, so you'd have to get an additional domain added to your license for each of the other domains. We normally use sub-domains, e.g. www.mysite.com, dk.mysite.com, fr.mysite.com to get round needing multiple domains. Getting an additional domain is cheaper than buying a license, details here.

    Thanks Tim, that's exactly as I expected.  Using sub-domains would be my natural choice but the client has particular SEO requirements so different domains it is.
