Deleted Contour site crashed - Fix only web.config file

I have deleted contour and my site has crashed because its looking for Umbraco.Forms.CodeFirst that now has been deleted.
I need to amend the web.config file to fix the site. The problem is that my local copy is months out of date, a full ftp update would set me months behind.
Is there a way I can just edit the web.config file?
What you can do is just upload the edited web.config file to your web server. that should be the solution.
As always it´s a good idea to take a backup of your web.config file, before you upload it to your server so you have the option to make a roll back if something went wrong.
