What is the job of NuCache and how its size affect my website speed ?

my question is about the NuCache i noticed that the size of NuCache is get bigger and bigger when i create a new nodes and its have some relations with internal and external index size,
what i want to exactly want to ask about if i have huge amount of nodes the NuCache size will increase a lot should i have some fears about that ?
and will that slow my website ?
