    Lost Password for back office

I'm not sure but I think I'm on version 4 of Umbraco. We put the website up in 2014 and havent really touched it much since then. I have lost the bck office password and not sure how I can reset or even find out what version of Umbraco im on or what database it is using.

What is my best course of action here, I have data I need to remove from our website ASAP since we have moved.

Hopefully somebody can help me out or steer me in the right direction.

    Thanks,

    Jerry

    Hi Jerry

There are 2 ways of restoring closed password:

    1) use Admin reset package - https://our.umbraco.com/packages/developer-tools/umbraco-admin-reset/

    2) change admin password via database

Not sure what to recommend to you because we don't know the Umbraco version.

    Thanks, Alex

How can I determine the version? I have access to all the files.

I tried adding the dll to the /bin folder and it crashed my site when I tried to reset the password.

I removed the dll from my bin folder and the site works again.

    It's for version 7.3 and dotnet 4.5

    my umbraco is 7.0

I'm thinking of just replacing the whole thing with a version 8 and sql server database
