    417 Expectation Failed error when Bulk Publishing.

    I have a strange issue, and I'm not sure where to investigate next. here it is:

    • right click anything in the umbraco tree
    • select publish. no need to tick anything.
    • click publish

    Chrome network tab shows: Request URL:http://www.example.com/umbraco/RestServices/BulkPublish/PublishDocument Request Method:POST Status Code:417 Expectation Failed

    This only occurs on one of our servers, not all servers, and also setting debug="true" makes this error go away.

    Umbraco version 7.6.5

    Anyone got any ideas?

    From what I know there are lots of different reasons you might see a 417 error but some of them at least are addressed in 7.6.6. Have a look at:

    We moved the site to a newer server (win 2016) and the problem went away :-\
