Officially, the lastest version of Merchello seems to be 2.6.0 and is compatible with Umbraco 7.7.x so if you want to be sure everything will work as expected, I'd go for that combination.
Having said that however, this being a fresh install, I'd definitely be tempted to experiment with the latest version of Umbraco and see if it installs and runs okay for you.
I did have a look at the documentation (https://merchello.readme.io/docs) as well which does compatibility matrix but this appears to be out of date. I've created an issue over at Github (https://github.com/Merchello/Merchello/issues/2178) to raise this with the Merchello team so hopefully this will get updated at some point.
Merchello Fresh install
Hi everyone, I would like to to install Merchello but it's very hard to really know what version of Umbraco and Merchello I should install?
It's a fresh install, so I would like some recommendations on version of Merchello and Umbraco.
