Umbraco update checker error (your service down)

I'm receiving an umbraco update checker sql timeout exception in the backoffice after logging in. Everything else is working fine and the site continues to work fine after dismissing said error. I believe your SQL server is down.

I can't now as that error is no longer appearing because I believe your service is backup.

As you can see from previous posts this has happened to you before.
