v8 install via NuGet: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.CodeDom.Providers.DotNetCompilerPlatform'

I get this error when trying to run Umbraco from Visual Studio:

Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.CodeDom.Providers.DotNetCompilerPlatform, Version=2.0.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)

I installed it into a blank .NET project via NuGet Package Manager.

    Any ideas?

v7 installs used to work fine.

Make sure to have a look at the NuGet install guide: https://our.umbraco.com/documentation/Getting-Started/Setup/Install/install-umbraco-with-nuget

    2 things that cause this:

    1. You forgot to select .NET 4.7.2
    2. Your visual studio 2017 version is lower than 15.9.6 :-)
