How can I clear all templates and documents and start again?

I'm in the process of learning how to use Umbraco and want to clear out all the stuff I've created and start again (like from a fresh install).  How can I do that?

well, you said it yourself, start from scratch, delete existing umbraco installation files, delete existing database and start over. Should take no longer than 5 minutes to do that.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    /Dirk

    Hey,

You could also try the clean sweep package which is meant to clean out your umbraco to the bare install which you can find here:

    http://www.afdeling18.dk/blog/2007/10/3/clean-sweep-package.aspx

I'm not sure what version of Umbraco it's compatable with though, so Dirks option might be the better one.

Yeah, just start over, delete everything and start from scratch, that's the best option really to make sure everything is gone. For a quick overview of how to install Umbraco from scratch, see my 6 minute install video.

I'm not 100% sure I got this right, but it does work and I did a blog post on it.

Please post comments to my blog post if I did something wrong or inappropriate (with suggestions)

    Thanks,

Make sure you also delete any files in /css, /scripts, /masterpages, /xslt and /usercontrols. If you recreate any of them with the same name then they will re-appear in Umbraco as they were.

As that's quite a bit of work.. (and a lot to remember), I still recommend to just delete everything and start over. At least you know you're not missing anything that can bite you in the butt later on.

    Thanks for the advice Sebastiann.

I'll definitely do that the next time.  Sounds like I should just clear the web directory first by delete *.* but don't get rid of the web site entry in iis.

Sure, you can keep the IIS entry!
