I am using umbaco 4.0.1, in the rich text editor if i press enter i get as expected a carriage return in the html you get

when i publish the page i a black diamond with a question mark in it any ideas whats going on ? Looks like some kind of encoding issue? Regards Ismail
Ismail, can you check: Open umbracoSettings.config and change this line: HTH, PeterD
Peter, Awesome. Thought it was encoding in mine it was set to RAW. Regards Ismail
It's a general bug in 4.0.1, which is going to be fixed in 4.0.2 as far as I know.
the better way i found. i dont know in your case it would work or not.
go to umbracoSettings.config of (config\) folder.
open it and find the <TidyCharEncoding>Raw</TidyCharEncoding> section.
Change it to <TidyCharEncoding>UTF8</TidyCharEncoding>.
Change in content where there are the magic character after removing it and republish the page.
you would find that the magic character is removed from the page.
I hope it helps.
