    Contact form

Hi there! First I want to start off by telling that I already Googled and also searched the entire Umbraco website for the answer. But there are a few unanswered questions:

    • Is Umbraco 5 a stub?
    • Why is nobody developping packages
    • Is there any recent information about Umbraco 5

The reason that I ask these questions is that there are really no recent articles(even some items in Umbraco.tv are outdated).

I made a simple portfolio website with Umbraco 5 and I can tell that it is awesome. But when I want to create a contact form, things turned out ugly.
I followed the tutorial by Niels on Umbraco.tv, but usercontrols are outdated and not used anymore?

I worked with MVC3 a lot, but the way that I usually make contact forms is by defining a model with required attributes. Then in Razor I generate the contact form.

No clue where macros are for =/ it is described in Umbraco.tv videos, but they are outdated.

I really want to contribute with this kind of projects. But from what I experience is that since the introduction of Umbraco 5 everyone left or something :p

    Hi Leon.

Not much documentation on v5 yet but as I understand it HQ is focusing on that as we speak. New videos on umbravo.tv are also coming.

Personally I'm putting the transition to v5 on hold until v5.1. It will include a member section and API.

Is there a kind of release date for V5.1?
I really want to use Umbraco as my project website. Can't wait too long though.

    Aim is late March. http://progress.umbraco.org/

We base new sites on v4 for the time being, but doing some testing on v5 for future projects :)

    Thanks for the link!

The activity stream learns that the community and project isn't dead.
I am really looking forward to contribute.
