The green symbol, is to tell you that the page is saved but not published yet, so the changes would not be visible on the frontend until you hit the save and publish button, for the links page.
It could be because of a 'ApplicationEventHandler' class, which subscribes to the ContentService.Saving event and saves the content, without publishing it?
E.g. third party plug-ins or custom code can cause this.
Mysterious green bullet at nodes
Hello,
Sometimes the nodes in Umbraco 7 show green bullets. I can't figure out why they are there. Does anyone know what they are trying to tell me?

Ok weird, because i always use [save and publish] after making chnages. It happens on al 90 Umbraco sites we have delivered.

It's your customer using the preview button see issue http://issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-5510 should be fixed in 7.2
