I second that. I have a project where we'd like to impliment a forgotten password -> email function for editors, seems like a reasonable bit of functionality to have on Umbraco.
I'm wondering if there is any update on this item's status, as I also need this "self-serve" forgot password functionality which would sent an e-mail to a user.
Also, on our project we need an ability to lock the user after N unsuccessfull login attempts? Once user hits that count, we could set userNoConsole flag to 1 (without introducing a new db field), so admin can login reset this user's flag on his profile page using Disable Umbraco Access field.
Has anybody done that yet? If not, then I would go ahead developing it and, ideally of course, have it as a part of Umbraco going forward...
Forgot password function for editors

Is there a way for editors to retreive their password out of the box ? I can't seem to find it.

So the only option is to reset the password.
Maybe a nice to have feature for one of the next versions.
