    Inactive Blog Post Creator

Installed from the latest version Blog4Umbraco_2.0.26_634044241668381250.zip.

The problem is that the dashboard blog post creator is inactive, although access is available via the content tree.

Dashboard message reads "To activate the blog post creator, you need to have access to at least one blog".

I haven't created any users beyond the default administrator, which is configured to the default blog in the blog properties tab.

I've tried republishing and even re-installed from a clean setup but the facility is still inactive.

Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?

    Many thanks,
    Barney

When I install version Blog4Umbraco_2.0.24 this problem doesn't exist so I can only assume it's a bug within the latest version Blog4Umbraco_2.0.26

    Hi Barney,

Don't think you are doing anything wrong, sounds like a bug. Thanks for reporting this, will take a look at it soon, in the meantime you can simply remove the control from the dashboard by updating the /config/dashboard.config file (since you can also create blog posts directly in the content tree).

Ok Tim will do. I wish I could be of more help but at my level of developing I'm pretty much stuck with plug and playing these packages to get anywhere with Umbraco.

As I say, appreciate you chaps are busy.

    All the best,
    Barney

Did this ever get resolved? I am having exactly the same problem with the dashboard blog post creator being inactive. This makes it pretty difficult to make a post. Right clicking on stuff etc etc is out of the question for the site I am making.

There appears to be a logic error in the SetBlogRoot() code causing the dashboard to always skip the setting of the blog root, thus it never finds the blog for a user.  Unfortunately, unless it is an issue in my testing environment, there is also an issue with the tag control in the editor, since it is checking for the current blog post node which doesn't exist yet. (The node would exist if created via the right-click or Create Button method).

BTW, Sam Carrey, you should be able to create blogs in the interim using the Create button at the top left of the Umbraco GUI screen.  Select your blog as the root of the new content and create an object of type Blog Post.

Thanks webangelo :) I've decided to go for a news section instead now but thanks for the help.

I am having the same issue on dashboard when I am the blog owner!

Is there a solution to this?

To activate the blog post creator, you need to have access to at least one blog
