    Data in Umbraco?

It really looks cool but I'm worried about putting forum data in Umbraco. Of course Umbraco can store a huge load of nodes, but still ...

Looking forward to trying it out.

    Thanks
    Jesper

This way just makes it easier for people to update / customise IMO... I did look at using external tables etc.. but uForum tried that and the feedback I got was that people didn't like it :S

Thanks for getting back, Lee. I agree it's way more easy to customise. Will it work with autofolders (to avoid an old forum having 1000 topics directly below)?

    /Jesper

Yes it should work with autofolders, as I just use the API to create topics and posts and I'm guessing 'Autofolders' will just attach to the onpublish event?

Cool - Do let me know how you get on, I'm interested to hear how people get on using it with other packages.  For big forums I was going to write a post about installing Richards awesome content maintenance package, as it would enable quick finding and administrating of posts/topics

Hey Jesper, How were you thinking of using autofolders for this package?  Alphabetising the topics under a category or adding in datefolders?

Only asking as I might integrate something like this out the box, but date folders would make the URL's even longer which is not a good thing.

    Hi Lee,

I just noticed that all all responses are childs of a topic node. I just thought it would be great to have them in montly archives. Better performance and easier to manage. But of course :-) out of the box is even better.

Thanks for creating an awesome package.

    /Jesper

Ok I'll see if I can slot something like this in without making the URL's insanely long :)

Just a thought for another package: "ignore nodes of this doctype in url" :-)

Like the package idea ;)  Have added in ForumDateFolders for new topics in v1.1

    U da' man :-)

Maybe if its even possible to configure "level of granulation" as I believe it's seldom needed to split into "days" (im not sure if this is understandable)

    :-)

Bit too much to do ;)  I'm still trying to get the rest of the features implemented :P
