Hi All. I wanted to hear what the general solution is when creating a new product. An editor might want to do this is multiple steps, such as writing a bit of text, setting up the right SKU, adding the right images and so on.
As far as I can tell, when you create the product, it is visible/published. but how do you handle products that are not yet ready for prime time? Stuff like preview, what will my product page look like etc.? Do you create a special category for thos products, that is not shown on the site, and can then be navigated by admins? Do you set a property on the product?
What is you typical workflow when creating products?
I've worked on a project where i made a special section in Umbraco with some tools. One of them was a tool displaying all products and a link to each one, sorted by the newest created product.
When ever they would create a new product they could preview it by finding it there.
Every product would only appear when it had display on site checked. So whenever they was unchecked it couldn't be seen. However if you had the specific link you could. In practice i don't think that any user of the site would ever find one that was supposed to be hidden. But the administers could find it in their toolbox.

Thanks for the feedback :-)
I guess a dashboard could be a way to go. And I could use the "Display on site" to keep it out of the regular listings.
Yeah or you could add a variant field if you wan't it to be disabled as default which it isn't with "Display on site".
is working on a reply...
